Abstract: As the newest development in immersive technologies, WebXR holds immense potential in education. It enables engaging, experiential, impactable learning experience in both classroom and online learning environments. If appropriately designed and meaningfully used, WebXR can make teaching and learning more engaging, effective and efficient. Many unfulfilled promises of an emerging technology in education are largely attributed to the lack of or superficial understanding of the pedagogical impact of a technology. The purpose of this paper is, therefore, to analyze the unique technology affordances of WebXR, explore the corresponding instructional benefits, and identify the relevant design frameworks for integrating WebXR into teaching and learning.
