Abstract: The goal of the education system is to prepare students for a world that is in a constant state of evolution. As part of this evolution, technology has been integrated into education, which means it has become the responsibility of educators to integrate technology into instruction. Education is no longer simply focused on content, and now requires that students graduate with technological skills that allow them to successfully apply the content they have learned, outside of the context of which it was taught. As a result of this evolution in responsibility, the requirement for educator training in relation to technology integration is imperative, and it has become the responsibility of teacher educators to prepare preservice teachers for this evolving classroom environment. The goal of this literature review is to show that this training is needed and imperative for successful teacher preparation programs.
