Abstract: The high failure rates in Curricular Units of Differential and Integral Calculus (UC-CDI) in engineering degrees lead to constant reflection on applied pedagogical practices. Research work has been carried out at Coimbra Engineering Institute within the scope of “Design, development and evaluation of an intervention in terms of teaching/learning practices of UC-CDI in engineering degrees”. This investigation includes three phases: diagnosis of the situation regarding the teaching/learning of those UCs; analysis of the Diagnostic Test (TD) data which has been applied annually and analysis of the data obtained from the implementation of the Mathematics Support Center (CeAMatE) built and developed since 2015. Finally, the final evaluation of the results and their correlation allowed the construction of an intervention at the teaching/learning level that led higher education institutions to overcome school failure in UC-CDI and that induces student greater confidence in the option for degrees in Engineering.
