Abstract: To promote individualized practical assignments in an undergraduate course on ERP systems, we developed an educational chatbot for interview simulations in an iterative process over several course cycles. After introducing the chatbot architecture and its flipped chatbot logic in previous papers, this paper focuses on the latest improvement cycle from 2021/2022 which addressed the conversation design behind the chatbot. Going through a canonical action research process (diagnosis, intervention planning, intervention, evaluation, and reflection), we aimed to improve the interview experience by making the chatbot more realistic and more flexible. While the evaluation results turned out strong and indicate significant improvements, the students still prefered a human over a chatbot for the interview process.
