Abstract: As faculty members at colleges and universities face the major challenge of finding ways to engage, motivate, and coach today’s learners inside and outside the classroom (Knepp, 2012; Rutledge, Crawford, Ford & Rausch, 2018), this presentation seeks to offer detailed pedagogical information on using technology tools to help students collaborate to achieve their learning goals. This presentation will present a comprehensive picture of faculty experiences, attitudes, perceptions, and expectations, which will help others see how technology tools have been instrumental for student collaboration in college classrooms and how faculty members conceptualize the integration of technology into curriculum. Additionally, we will present a table, a result of an extensive literature review, that summarizes the following categories of faculty use of technology in collaboration: 1) reasons for use; 2) types of use; 3) challenges of use; 4) perceptions of faculty; and 5) perceptions of students. We also understand subject matter differences cause different delivery methods of teaching. Subjects that require the linear learning process, such as math, accounting, and finance, call for different considerations for adopting technology tools in teaching practice. We will discuss whether or not the review of the literature finds any statistically significant differences in terms of attitude toward and use of technology tools in diverse disciplines.
