Abstract: Currently the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) has become increasingly popular especially in the year 2020. Higher education institutions in South Africa have migrated all their educational content and facilitation of lectures to online learning environments with the aid of ICTs. Currently there is limited literature that examines the perceptions of learners regarding online learning environments in higher institutions of education. A desktop research methodology was used for this study. Moreover, this study also used a quantitative approach to analyse a secondary dataset available in the public domain. The UTAUT conceptual framework was adapted for the purpose of this study. This paper provides insights into student perceptions towards online learning through assessing their attitudes and their experiences on the effects of the use of ICTs in online environments.
