Share Paper: Enjoyable, Game-like Computer Programming in Club Activities at Elementary Schools

Abstract: In April 2020, computer programming became a required subject of elementary school education in Japan. Computer programming is taught in fifth-grade mathematics courses with drawing of regular polygons or in sixth-grade science courses to build tools using properties and functions of electricity. Teachers now must teach computer programming not only in these classes, but in various subjects at schools. Additionally, the author considered that activities to allow children to experience the joy and attraction of programming itself were important, in addition to learning it as a school subject.
