Satoyama Forest Management Game: Evaluation of a Game Experience Using Eye Tracking
Abstract: This study evaluated the game experience of a computer game called the “Satoyama Management Game,” developed to teach learners about biodiversity management. We investigated the changes in the areas of the game screen in which learners were interested by measuring their gaze as they proceeded through the game, to clarify the actual state of the game experience. The participants were 24 students from Tokyo University of Science and Kobe University. The results showed that the area of interest changed as the game progressed. In the early stages of the game, learners were more interested in the tree area and less interested in the information area, but as the game progressed, they became more interested in the information area.
