Abstract: In this paper, we introduce a method for obtaining language learning material for Japanese in an engaging and customizable way. It is part of our Integrated Language learning EXperience framework (ILEX) for studying Japanese, which enables incidental learning while browsing Wikipedia content. The framework includes a deep analysis of the writing system as well as a method for finding reliable and accurate representations of words and expressions in context. We aim to exploit the concepts of autonomous learning, association, and language learning by example.
