The Influence and Survey Analysis for Eating Habits of Snack by Food Education Support System
Abstract: With the enactment of the Basic Act on Shokuiku (Food Education), educators have become more interested in teaching of food education. A previous study identified trends and problems associated with the three daily meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). However, the system used in the prerequisite study did not have a function to collect data on snacking, so it was not possible to enter the full contents of a day's worth of meals, including snacks. Therefore, in this study, we added a new function to store the data of snacks, and improved the system to be able to visualize the amount of nutrients in snacks for addition to the three meals. As a result of the experiment, this function made it possible to investigate the current status of snacking in the subjects' food education, and it was found that Japanese elementary school students supplement three meals' worth of nutrients through snacking.
