Building a Virtual Community for Future Teachers During the COVID 19 Pandemic
Abstract: The COVID 19 pandemic moved the face-to-face class to online during 2020. In a typical academic year, students enjoy social activities outside of classes. However, the pandemic severely limited the opportunities for in-person interactions. In this context, an instructor conducted a pre-semester survey to find out students’ concerns. This paper presents specific steps that a teacher educator took to convert the Community of Inquiry framework to teaching practice after taking the students’ concerns into account. The strategies are easy to replicate, and they appeared effective.
