The Interdisciplinary Development of an Educational Game for Primary School Children – Lessons Learned
Abstract: This paper describes lessons learned in an interdisciplinary software development process aiming at the conceptualization and creation of a digital Pentomino game. The most important insight of the process, which had the goal of finding innovative new approaches for the digital game while at the same time allowing all participating branches of science to investigate their particular research questions, was to bring all parties onto the same level. No party must understand itself as being the executive agent for the respective others. The paper describes two fields where, through the combination the respective expertise of computer science, computer science education and primary school mathematics education, didactic digital concepts (realization of digital potentials, restoration of didactical flexibility) and artefacts can be conceived which go beyond what would have been developed in the individual branches of science.
