Abstract: This study reports an investigation of students taking leadership role in online discussion. Numerous discussions are conducted in the courses. Students are required to assume leadership role in online discussions. As group leaders, students are responsible to initiate discussions, ensure that each group member contributes, and submit a summary of group discussions. The leadership role is rotated among students. The participants of the study are undergraduates from an urban university in the United States.
