Abstract: This paper is a report on the findings of a study conducted during European research project ATS2020 (Assessment of Transversal Skills) in Finland. During the project a learning model to support development of students transversal skills (TS) was implemented in 22 lower and upper comprehensive schools with experimental and control groups. The implementation took use of digital portfolios for assessment and feedback, and both groups were assigned to pre- and post-tests of overall TS skills find how student characteristics, attitudes and sources of learning affected overall TS scores. Female students were found to have higher TS scores although male students had higher self-efficacy of their TS. Students that valued use of information sources as “very important” had higher TS scores than others.
