Abstract: This presentation reports on the preliminary findings of a small-scale phenomenological study on the use of tablet technology to support children’s learning in Early Childood Education (ECE) settings in Otago, New Zealand. This qualitative study used a case study methodology (Neuman, 2011; Yin, 2014) with each of the ECE settings being considered a ‘case’. The study sought to explore if and how teachers currently use tablet technology to support children’s learning and explore the affordances and constraints of using tablet technology with young children.
