Abstract: 700 children ages four to six have received Samsung tablets in their public-school classrooms at four elementary schools in Mobile, Alabama, USA. Each tablet is loaded with Speakaboos, an app used by more than 25,000 teachers and a million children worldwide aimed at children ages two to six. The app consists of a library of more than 300 e-stories. The user can select whether the story is read-aloud with each word illuminated along the way, the child can “read-it-myself” and some stories have a “play-and-learn” option where the user is interacting with the content.
