Abstract: Online instructors are often searching for successful online writing projects that students can enjoy and use for real-world applications. This practical writing-intensive project encourages students to learn and exercise online writing, collaborative editing, cooperative feedback, profile development, and impression management skills for future internships, fieldwork, and/or employment. The writing activity can be used for digital portfolio development at high schools, colleges, and universities, and the product, a professional Digital Profile Sketch, can be applied to career-oriented social networking sites such LinkedIn, Quibb, and Ryze. In this successful case study of an online writing project (complete with theory, directions, and rubrics), the author shares strategies for encouraging better writing and online interactions from students by developing digital profiles as personal brand landing pages.
