Abstract: The Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the College of Dentistry features one of the most intensive curricula around NYU, where students must complete an average of 1,280 curriculum hours annually. This is why finding opportunities to decompress the curriculum is a crucial and ongoing effort. The college has identified a series of mandatory, foundational courses in the basic sciences (biochemistry, cell biology, organ systems and neuroscience) that, by undergoing critical reviews and redesign in online format, could benefit both faculty and students aiming for a more rational decompressed curriculum that integrates the advantages provided by digital technologies.
