Abstract: This paper reports on research aimed at understanding how providing students with lecture materials enhance learning experience. We focused on how lecture materials released to students prior to lectures influence class attendance. We surveyed a large first year Health Science course. Our findings suggest that providing students with lecture materials prior to the delivery of lectures did not directly influence their willingness to attend scheduled lectures, instead, it enriched their learning experience. These findings have wider implications to teaching practice and sets the stage for transforming contemporary forms of lectures.
