Abstract: This paper describes a pilot study that involved university students enrolled in an educational New Media course that incorporated a practicum experience with a class of grade four students from a local elementary school. The purpose of the study was to investigate the perceived effectiveness of the design process and determine the motivational influence of 3D printing. University students went through the design process in their course and then orchestrated a learning experience for the grade four students.
