Abstract: The new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM -5) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) have online tools that can be used, in a variety of settings s to assess the cultural and environmental perspectives of individual clients and/or students. These perspectives are important components of the planning process that are frequently overlooked entirely or, at best addressed in a stereotypical manner based on the standard U.S. Government classification system.
