Abstract: EDM 310 is a service course in a College of Education that explores the idea of teaching for a new kind of learner. This paper will discuss the evolution and goals of an innovative effort in teacher education that is currently underway here at the University of South Alabama and in the College of Education to redesign this course to meet the needs of students, teacher education faculty, educational administrators, and learning communities in southern Alabama.
