Abstract: This innovative project used video recordings to evaluate nursing students completing geriatric clinical health assessments at multiple community sites. Over 200 students from four universities in Georgia and South Carolina (USA) were remotely located from 11 supervising faculty. The process captured students’ performance with subsequent evaluations by both students and faculty. Through the use of this HIPAA- compliant and IRB approved system, student dyads used a video camera, computer, and tripod in the residences of older adults to record interactions and psychosocial assessments. They used recordings to compare their clinical activities with pre-defined clinical objectives derived from gerontological nursing standards, and then made video clips of their assessments to demonstrate the required outcomes. The process received positive evaluations from students, faculty and residents. The system has significant implications for assessing students in their performance
