Student Views on Ideal Learning Space: a Case from Upper Secondary Education

Abstract: The paper addresses key features of learning space as described from the student perspective. Its motivation arises from reshaping facilities for upper secondary education in a Finnish city. A research project set off to map local students’ experiences, preferences and innovative ideas with the aim to inform the spatial design of the future settings for learning. Drawing on two online surveys for local upper secondary stage students, the paper describes features of learning space that were considered by the students inspirational / motivational.
