Abstract: Using visual images can help create more successful interaction in the online classroom environment; this session focuses on using imagery to promote learning. Most students are visual learners, however, even with the 21st century technology tools available visual imagery is often not used to its fullest potential in the classroom. Research suggests that incorporating visual images, in conjunction with pedagogically sound content, can increase learning, particularity in the areas of newly introduced material. An experienced online educator will demonstrate how incorporating content-based comics can increase students’ engagement with the content and help with their retention of the material. At the end of the session participants will have experienced both learning through and creating with visual imagery. In addition, each participant will receive a packet with ready-made handouts and a list of resources.
