Investigating the determinants of mobile learning acceptance in Korea
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of the Korean college students’ mobile learning (m-learning) acceptance based on the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. 173 college students from two universities in Seoul and Busan, Korea participated in this study. As key determinants of behavioral intention to use m-learning, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, perceived playfulness and self-management of learning were chosen based on literature review. Multiple regression was used to test the hypotheses, and the results showed that performance expectancy (ß= .18), social influence (ß= .21), perceived playfulness (ß= .25) and self-management of learning (ß= .19) were significant predictors of behavioral intention to use m-learning. This study provides implications for future studies on m-learning acceptance especially in the Korean context, and it guides m-learning designers and practitioners to develop strategies for successful implementation of m-learning in Korea.
