Abstract: Traditionally, Audiovisual Departments or Educational Media units have been responsible for equipment loans, maintenance of projection equipment in university classrooms, and more recently, maintenance of computer equipment and installation of classroom technologies. With the advent of new classroom design and new teaching strategies in our new, flexible classrooms (especially considering the "flipped" classroom), these units must become more broadly responsible for their "Teaching Spaces" and more engaged with all other university units employing new learning technologies. This session presents a model from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where such a unit was integrated with the Academic Technologies Team. Suggestions for organizational structure, re-design of responsibilities, and future strategies for such units will be provided. Successes and challenges will be discussed.
