Students’ Needs Analysis on e-Learning Contents for the Korean Online High Schools
Abstract: This paper identifies the ACHS (Air and Correspondence High Schools) students’ needs for e-Learning contents in terms of various aspects including navigation preference within the courseware, motivation, computer literacy, and learning purpose. The purpose of the needs analysis is to establish design guidelines for e-Learning contents specifically suitable to the ACHS students. The ACHS is the only nationally-accredited secondary education system in Korea, taking a blended-learning approach. However, it relies mainly on online lectures delivered via the Internet. The students in ACHS belong to a considerably different group socio-economically. It implies that the needs for Learning and/or e-Learning contents should be well identified and defined to make the contents the best fit to them. This paper gives a basic understanding of the ACHS and its student groups and analyzes the needs from the students for e-Learning contents, and finally suggests e-Learning design guidelines for the unique student groups.
