Abstract: This paper is concerned with the design, implementation and evaluation of a Performance Support System (PSS) to enhance lesson planning skills in “Optical Fiber Communication Systems” (OFCS) Master course. The concept of a PSS allows instructional designers to consider both instruction and performance of a task, within e-learning and m-learning environment. The performance support system DIPSEIL is interactive software that is intended to train and support both the novice and experienced user in the performance of complex tasks. Performance centered approach has been proven to be more effective than the traditional lecture-practice-test (expository inductive) in training higher order skills, for preparing learners for self-learning, improving, adapting for changing jobs.
