Tech-literate Teachers Talk Frankly About the Integration of Technology in Today’s Classrooms

Abstract: This presentation reports the results of interviews of 20 technology-literate teachers to identify the major supports for and barriers to the integration of contemporary educational technologies in three British Columbia school districts. It includes a summary of the relevant research literature, a synopsis of the quantitative and qualitative methods used to analyze the interviews, illustrations of the major supports for and barriers to the integration of educational technology at the classroom, school, school district, and provincial government levels of educational service, and a tabular summary of the most important implications of the results of this study for teaching, technology integration, and teacher education.
