Abstract: The benefits of technology-enhanced learning will not be realised by osmosis. As teachers are increasingly expected to embrace new types of technology, we need to support their work with new hi-tech forms of pedagogy and professional learning which challenge traditional assumptions of instructional design. This paper demonstrates a web-delivered, problem-based scenario designed for use in either a face-to-face workshop or online professional development program on how to design a course for blended delivery. Early design and development is described along with the iterative process of authoring the scenario in the e-tool SBL Interactive. The Course Design and Development Scenario is set in a university-level context and aims to introduce some of the basic and enduring principles of designing for learning in a new blended and technology-rich teaching environment.
