Computer Supported Collaborative Learning Enhances Higher Education Students Performance in Information and Communication Technology Course Subject
Abstract: Today Higher Education students independent from their specialization have to acquire at least the basic computer skills and especially they have to be able to handle World Wide Web effectively. Such type of knowledge is compulsory for their professional advancement and their career development too. In the Department of Food Technology in Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki a pilot study has been set where, in order to achieve the required and expected level of professionalism in handling WWW by students. This study presents an overview of the process that has been followed and is focused on the type of influences that collaborative approach had on teaching and on students’ learning process. Measurements have been applied relative to identification of the process strengths and weakness, students’ evaluation learning outcome through exams and comparison of the results with a group of students that did not take part in this teaching and learning approach.
