Abstract: The present research attempts to discuss from the perspective of not only academic achievement but also the formation of media cognition among children using mobile media (iPod touch) for the first time in the fieldwork in aquarium. It also attempts to verify whether or not differences among individual children can be identified, and to discuss learning design using mobile media. The results are: 1) from the perspective of learning effect, the data indicates that, an augmentation in academic ability vis-à-vis information utilization and other skills is difficult to achieve, but there is a possibility that the study enriched the views of the children, 2) It is clear that media cognition changed as a result of the study, and 3) With regard to media cognition, we now understand the relation between the children’s media autonomy and the ability to utilize information.
