Abstract: Educational uses of technology, indeed pedagogy in general, often remain mired in traditional notions of instruction that focus on information delivery. A diverse range of methods are available for instruction; these choices have been expanded by the wide availability of computing and the Internet. However, in general, instructional methods are not ordered or ranked according to their educational value. This paper presents a framework to inform the selection of educational methods and guide instructional design, and an examination of the technology of the question.
