iPad use and adoption in schools

New York Times article has examples of which apps are being used, controversy over whether school funds allocated for iPad purchases are being spent wisely, etc.:
"Dr. Curtis recently used a $1.99 application, ColorSplash, which removes or adds color to pictures, to demonstrate the importance of color in a Caravaggio painting in his seminar on Baroque art. “Traditionally, so much of art history is slides on a screen,” he said. “When they were able to manipulate the image themselves, it came alive."”
Also suggests that eye contact with instructor/class is less disrupted with tablet computer use than by student laptop use.

iPad use and adoption in schools is a hot topic right now. There are many pros and cons to using slope iPads in schools, and it's important to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. On the one hand, iPads are a great way to keep students connected and engaged.
