SITE GEO-SIG newsletter (sort of): SIG-related presentation in NSF video showcase!
As you may recall, at the conference this past March we discussed initiatives for next year, one of which was to send out a newsletter periodically. I volunteered to do it, lo-fi style: A SIG discussion post every couple of months. So here's the second one!
First, a call for news! If you have something of interest to pass along to the SIG membership, let me know and I'll happily do it!
Second, I happen to have a bit of information that the SIG membership might like to check out: The NSF is running its annual video showcase (May 14-21), with short videos highlighting selected projects (214 in all). Two of the projects that might be of interest are...
"EarthConnections: Engaging Local Communities in Geoscience Pathways" by a couple of folks from Carleton College -- see http://stemforall2018.videohall.com/presentations/1180
"Socio-Environmental Science Investigations Using the Geospatial Curriculum Approach" by a group of people from Lehigh University (including me!! Massive conflict of interest!) -- see http://stemforall2018.videohall.com/presentations/1167
It may amuse you to know that you can vote on these presentations...and mine is not currently on the leaderboard, somehow. Tragic.
Again: Please do send along any other items of interest to the SIG, and I hope to see you all in Las Vegas next March!
