Biography

I am the Director of Technology Enhanced Learning for the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences at the University of the West of England, Bristol. The main purpose of my work is to provide strategic direction for the faculty and support academic staff to develop their pedagogic practice and enhance the learning experience of their students by the use of technology. I am also one of the university's Learning & Teaching Fellows.

I am a faculty member with nearly 20 years teaching experience. I have worked and collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams at academic institutions across Europe. My formal academic background in Linguistics and Modern Foreign Languages, together with a life-long interest in the use of technology has led me to develop a career in the fields of Technology Enhanced Learning, Distance, Blended and Distributed Learning. I have worked and collaborated with the Open University (UK) and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain) for over a decade. My current research interests are in the field of Artificial Intelligence, developing virtual agents that can be used for the dynamic harvesting of information and sophisticated automated learning simulations.
