I am a strong advocate for health education, health communication and environmental sustainability in K-12 education environments. Utilizing e-health, and designing educational media using avatars is an important communication medium for teachers and schools working on issues of bullying prevention. Having received the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in Health Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, NY, I sought to establish education reform by launching a health education company, Together in Unity, LLC. A major part of this unique initiative is teaching children and adults about being an upstander to bullying, and about being an upstander for change in health behaviors in education. I provide curriculum development materials and offer coaching for teaching staff in social and emotional learning (SEL) approaches to advance curriculum in health behaviors. As more positive health behaviors become part of the teaching curriculum, students will be motivated to academically achieve at their greatest potential. By incorporating environmental education as part of STEM-focused curriculum, students will be engaged in science education through partnerships with global environmental organizations that work primarily through interactive online formats. Building partnerships in education is the catalyst to real change in health behaviors and health communication in our world today.
