Biography

I am a Teaching Professor at the Faculté Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada where I share my passion with my students through a wide range of courses in Biology and Psychology since 2010. Although my initial work was in oncology, I fell in love with the field of neuroscience when I worked on invertebrate neuroimmunology to earn my PhD from the University of Lille in France. I then furthered my training by two postdoctoral fellowships in Canada, initially at the University of Calgary and then the University of Alberta, where I explored the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders such as HIV-associated dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as well as cognitive aging. Among other awards and accolades, I received the CIHR Brain Star Award for my postdoctoral work and the William Hardy Alexander Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching for my teaching. My current research interest focuses on exploring the benefits of game-based learning in University-level classrooms.
