Abstract: The Society for Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) sits at the intersection of two spaces which historically and presently struggle with whiteness: technology and teacher education. Technology spaces are often insular, exclusionary, and predominantly white and male. Teacher education spaces remain similarly exclusionary and reflect the demographics of the teaching field, primarily white and female. We wonder the extent to which SITE interrogates and challenges whiteness and works to correct historical injustice in these spaces. This paper presents a critical content analysis of past SITE conference proceedings in an effort to determine the extent that SITE’s conference content aligns with justice work. We identify trends over time and make recommendations for SITE to work toward a more equitable society.
