Exploring Seesaw Opportunities for Diverse Groups to Learn and Connect with their Native Language
Abstract: This brief paper aims to explore the Seesaw app as a digital platform that could help multilingual learners. Some multilingual learners may struggle with learning and connecting with their native language due to multiple reasons. In this paper, we will look into how Seesaw can be used as an interactive environment for language learning. To achieve the goal of this paper, the Universal Design Learning (UDL) is used as a framework to uncover the benefits as well as the concerns of Seesaw. The importance of this paper is that the researchers look at the use of Seesaw from different perspectives as teachers, parents, and researchers. We hope that this experience could empower diverse groups in the US to support multilingual learners with more opportunities to interact and connect with their native language, particularly when there is a lack of interaction in their home and/or school environment.
