Abstract: The integration of Science, Technology, Math, and Engineering in the early childhood curriculum is a hot educational topic. Providing engineering activities for young learners promotes higher-ordered thinking and learning throughout content areas of the curriculum. Questions for educators to answer are where does engineering fit in the early childhood curriculum and what standard content should be integrated. This review explored the integration of K-2 Engineering Design with early childhood data analysis and quantitative reasoning standards. Fully integrating standards from each content area is important in interdisciplinary teaching. An Early Childhood Engineering Instructional Model and math standards from Common Core State Standards represented the disciplinary content integrated, and an instructional checklist for math and engineering was identified. Integrating engineering with math in the early childhood curriculum has had less exposure in scholarship than integration of engineering with science and literacy. This review contributes to scholarship by filling a void and informing early childhood instructional pedagogy.
