Abstract: This research develops an online learning platform and two graduate students with the same level of metacognition were participated in this experiment. Whether to give metacognitive prompts was used as the independent variable, and the cognitive status of the participants at each stage of the conceptual change process was used as the dependent variable. Collect participant's text data through learning platform. At the same time, a " Metacognitive Mechanism " coding table was developed to code and analyze the answer text of participants. Finally, the following conclusions were obtained: Metacognitive awareness is the basic condition for conceptual change to occur; Reflection and conflict in metaconceptual knowing play the role of a bridge between "knowing" and "regulation"; Metaconceptual regulation plays a leading role in conceptual change and has a direct impact on the result of conceptual change.
