Abstract: As more and more K-12 learning shifts to hybrid and online settings, it is important that pre-service teachers are prepared to embed culturally responsive teaching in their virtual pedagogical practice. The purpose of this proposal is to discuss ways that teacher educators can support pre-service teachers in building their capacity to support culturally and linguistically diverse students by creating dynamic equitable virtual learning environments. This roundtable discussion will be guided by strategies that can help reframe mindset towards growth, eliminate deficit thinking, and employ culturally responsive and strength-based pedagogical approaches within virtual learning environments.
