Share Paper: Designing and Adapting Simulated Teaching Experiences for Preservice Teacher Learning of Practice
Wednesday, March 31 12:30 PM-1:30 PM Room 1
Abstract: In this panel, we will introduce the design principles of a virtual simulated teaching experience for elementary preservice teachers (PTs) to improve their pedagogical practices in mathematics and science teaching—facilitating argumentation-focused classroom discussions—and discuss the ways elementary teacher educators from five universities, in different course structures/formats (synchronous online, asynchronous online, and hybrid) and in different field placement assignments (completing student teaching virtually vs. student teaching suspended), adapted these experiences to support PT learning during COVID-19.
