Teacher Technology Competencies: Insights from the Literature and the Field Experts
Abstract: The paper presents a research project that aimed to develop an instrument to measure teacher’s technology integration competencies. A list of technology integration competencies for pre-service and in-service teachers were developed based on findings from the literature review. The research then invited field experts to review and comment on the competency statements. Thirty-five people completed the survey instrument. Among them, 14 (40%) were university professors, 11 (31%) were STEM or technology specialists, and 10 (29%) were classroom teachers. The final instrument consists of 11 competency statements in the Knowledge section, 11 statements in the Skills section, and 9 statements in the Beliefs and Attitudes section.
