Abstract: Teachers who have math anxiety may pass this anxiety on to their own students (Beilock et al, 2010). To combat math anxiety in preservice teachers, the researchers used an area that the students enjoy, namely children’s literature. The preservice teachers interacted with the children’s literature in several ways, including creating their own video trailers, creating additional pages for the book and creating activities that integrated the mathematical concepts from the book into class. Using our LMS, we were able to pair with graduate student mentors for additional coaching and feedback.
