Share Paper: Virtual Reality in the Classroom: Applications of Google Cardboard VR in Teaching Physical Geography

Abstract: Virtual Reality (VR) is an emerging possibility for delivering educational content and experiences to students. The VR represents simulated three-dimensional environment created by hardware and software, which providing realistic experience and possibility of interaction to the end-user. This paper reports initial findings of a study that examined students’ perceptions of using Google Cardboard VR viewer in teaching physical geography. Data were collected in the form of surveys, interviews and VR apps course related assignment. The results suggest that Google Cardboard is an effective tool that provides an immersive and active learning experience in subjects where an interactive environment is needed.
