Abstract: Games entertain by engaging players in environments that induce the types of higher-order thinking skills that are the goals of current education. Yet games are essentially entertainment media and as such, aesthetics plays a large role in how they are realized and experienced, however, the role of aesthetics in the research about game-based learning is often relegated to a surface discussion of graphics or the topic is neglected altogether.
