Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences: Students’ Perceptions of Using WebEx Tool for Conducting Virtual Cross-Cultural Interviews in an early childhood Course
Abstract: In the past few decades, several studies show the need for improving undergraduate research and the demands of connecting teaching and research in this area (Olivares-Donoso, & González, 2019). Course-based undergraduate research has become increasingly interested in many researchers by exploring the impacts of students and faculty members, and it has grown into a predominant alternative approach in many different colleges and universities (Hesse & Schubert, 2017;2018). The purpose of this project is to explore: (1) students’ experiences and perceptions of using WebEx tool for virtual cross-cultural interviews; (2) students’ experiences in this early childhood course with their course-based undergraduate research experiences; as well as (3) the process of building a technology embedded CURE project in an existing early childhood course. The result of this study will provide an example of how to develop a distance education course adding course-based undergraduate research experiences through embed technologies and students’ perceptions and experiences of using WebEx tool for their virtual cross-cultural interviews.
